What to do in Camogli in summer: sea, trails and traditions

18 May 2026 · 3 min read

Summer guide to Camogli: swims in the Paradiso Gulf, trails to San Fruttuoso, aperitifs at the harbour and not-to-miss festivals.

Camogli in summer is the perfect Ligurian village for crystal-clear sea, seafaring traditions and panoramic trails just a step from Portofino. Here is what to do from June to September to enjoy the Paradiso Gulf at a slow pace.

Sea and beaches in the Paradiso Gulf

Camogli's main beach, alternating dark gravel and sand, is ideal for families and morning swims. For clearer waters, by boat or on foot you can reach the coves of Punta Chiappa and San Fruttuoso, jewels protected by the Portofino Marine Protected Area.

Don't miss a guided snorkelling trip: the headland's seabed features posidonia meadows, gorgonians and shoals of salema.

Hiking and boat to San Fruttuoso

The trail from Camogli to San Fruttuoso (2h30) is one of the most beautiful in Liguria: broom, maritime pines and sheer sea views. For non-walkers, the Servizio Marittimo del Tigullio ferries leave hourly from Molo Garibaldi.

A shorter alternative climbs to San Rocco di Camogli for views over the gulf and a cheese focaccia in the belvedere bars.

Events, aperitifs and where to sleep

Camogli's summer is marked by Stella Maris in August (floating candles on the evening of 5 August) and music nights at the little harbour. For aperitivo, choose a table facing the Basilica dell'Assunta and order a Coronata white with Ligurian anchovies.

Staying in Camogli or around the Tigullio in an Ariele home lets you move at your own pace, avoiding the crowded car parks of high-season weekends.
