San Fruttuoso Abbey: how to get there from Camogli
2 July 2026 · 3 min read
How to reach San Fruttuoso Abbey from Camogli: ferry, walking trail, opening hours and what to see.
The Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte can only be reached by sea or on foot: no road leads to the bay, and that's one of the reasons for its unspoilt charm.
By ferry from Camogli
Servizio Marittimo del Tigullio runs hourly trips from Camogli's Molo Garibaldi. The crossing takes 20 minutes and in high season it's wise to buy your ticket early in the morning.
On foot on the panoramic trail
From Camogli centre, the trail passes Pietre Strette and drops down to San Fruttuoso in about 2h30. Medium difficulty, hiking shoes required. Harder variant: via Batterie.
What to see in the bay
Visit the Benedictine abbey run by FAI (closed in winter), swim in the bay and, if you're an experienced diver or snorkeller, look at the Christ of the Abyss 17 m below the surface.
