Skyway Monte Bianco is the panoramic cable car that climbs from Courmayeur to Punta Helbronner at 3,466 m, offering a 360° view of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso.
Hours and tickets
Skyway is open year-round with technical stops in early November and May. In summer the first trips leave at 7:30 and the last returns are at 16:30. A round-trip ticket to Punta Helbronner costs around €60 (family rates available).
Buy online a few days ahead on July and August weekends: time slots sell out fast.
The three stations: Courmayeur, Pavillon, Punta Helbronner
You leave from Courmayeur station (1,300 m). First stop is Pavillon (2,173 m) with the Saussurea botanical garden, panoramic restaurant and exhibition halls. From here the second cabin, rotating 360°, climbs to Punta Helbronner.
What to do at the top and practical tips
At the top you'll find panoramic terraces, a crystal room (Mont Blanc minerals) and the starting point of the Vallée Blanche (for mountaineers only).
Bring a warm jacket even in August: at the summit the temperature is 15-20°C lower than in the valley. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential.
