La Thuile in summer: trekking, biking and relax
4 June 2026 · 3 min read
Summer guide to La Thuile: trails, mountain biking, Rutor waterfalls, Lake Verney and Aosta Valley relaxation.
La Thuile in summer is one of Valle d'Aosta's quietest destinations: 1,441 m altitude, alpine meadows, glaciers and a trail network perfect for families and bikers.
Hiking for everyone
Trails start from the village centre and reach Rifugio Deffeyes (2,494 m), base for the spectacular Rutor waterfalls. For easy walks, choose the Verney Lake loop at Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo, with views of Mont Blanc.
Mountain bike and bike park
La Thuile is an Italian downhill capital: the bike park with equipped chairlifts offers trails for every level, from beginners to expert bikers, up to the famous track '3' used for World Cups.
Relax and food
At day's end, the Pré-Saint-Didier thermal baths (15 minutes by car) are the best way to recover. Local cuisine offers fontina, jambon de Bosses and game-based Saint-Marcellin, paired with a glass of Petit Rouge.
