Lake Verney and Little St Bernard Pass from La Thuile: how to get there, loop trail, views over Mont Blanc.
Lake Verney, at 2,088 m at Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo, is one of the most accessible alpine lakes in Valle d'Aosta: you reach it by car and walk around it in an hour.
How to get there
From La Thuile by car on the SS26 to Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo. Free parking at the lake. Alternatively, summer shuttle or e-bike.
The lake loop
Loop trail of about 4 km, almost no elevation, walkable in 1h. Suitable also for small children, off-road strollers and dogs on leash.
The Piccolo San Bernardo hospice
At the pass stands the historic hospice founded by Saint Bernard of Menthon, today partly visitable. The nearby Celtic cromlech testifies to the use of the pass since prehistory.
